Increase Web Traffic - Promote Interactivity

PDF Print E-mail
Ton's of people will have you believe that the key to online success is to generate traffic.  These people say that it doesn't matter where this traffic is coming from just as long as it's coming.  WRONG.  If I were to take a look at the sites that I visit the most, I'm generally on sites that are community driven, like forums and discussion boards.  I also frequent sites that update their content on a daily or even hourly basis.  Having tons of content is great, but it only serves to attract new users to your site.  If you don't update your site or blog regularly, these new visitors have no reason at all to keep coming to read new information.

The power of community is where you will generate traffic. Like anyone that reads to millions of how-to articles relating to traffic building and content creation, I started this site and began creating some really original content.  I have to say that I'm personally happy with the results of my writing but the traffic isn't booming to be honest.  The question that I asked myself is why?  And the simple answer to this question is this:

If I were a web surfer and stumbled upon this site, would I bookmark it and come back.  The answer is no.  This doesnt mean the content sucks or that the site is boring.  The real problem is that the content gets refreshed once a day or once every two days.  As a surfer, once I get my information, I'm out of here.

So starting today, one section of this site will be transformed into a discussion board or forum if you will.  The Business Idea Farm is meant to be a community driven section where we discuss various online and offline business ideas.  I needed to make it easier for my readers to contribute and stay upto date with the latest changes to these articles.

I truly believe that the Business Idea Farm is great idea that can be helpful to my readers and as such I want to promote it the most.  This is my niche.

Writing articles is important, but fresh and dynamic content has the staying power you want.  If you have a blog, enable the comments feature and if you just have a simple website on a very specific topic, install a forum and see what happens.

So to begin, here we go.  The Businss Idea Farm in its present form has had about 100 hits in the last two days.  I'm changing it into a forum today and I'll let you know how it goes.  I will also provide you with the promotion and martketing efforts that I have used to attract more attention to it.
