Crack Passwords: IEPassview - Your Passwords are Exposed

PDF Print E-mail

A freeware program called IEPassview exposes passwords you have entered at anytime in Internet Explorer. If you use Internet Explorer and ask the browser to remember your username and passwords when you access any site, your passwords are stored on your computer and IEPassview can retrieve your passwords and expose them in the clear. This makes you completely unsafe and unsecure on a shared computer. The following article explains how to deal with this program in order to restore your online privacy.

As stated IEPassview will retrieve any password that was used in IE (internet Explorer) on a computer at some point. These passwords can include:

- Banking Passwords

- Hotmail and MSN Passwords
- Gmail Passwords
- Any other webmail passwords

- Private Member sites like online discussion boards and adult sites

- E-Commerce site passwords: If you shop online and have a profile at a major retailer site where your credit card information is saved for "quick checkout", someone can get your password and shop for you.

Make sure that you answer NO whenever IE asks you to save a password. I actually recommend for you to download IEPassview at http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/internet_explorer_password.html as it also supports permanently deleting saved passwords. After you've done that, uninstall IEPassview and install PrivacyControl to make sure that you are completely covered in the future.
