We all have our reasons to blog. Some of us blog because we want to build up a popular site and drive insane amounts of traffic to it and make money with adsense. Others just blog because we enjoy writing. Personally, I'm a bit of both. Through blogging, I've rediscovered writing and creative thinking. I also want to get this blog to as many people as possible so that I can share what I have learned and also make a bit of extra cash. In reality, there is also another added benefit to starting your own blog: Getting a better job

Ton's of people will have you believe that the key to online success is to generate traffic. These people say that it doesn't matter where this traffic is coming from just as long as it's coming. WRONG. If I were to take a look at the sites that I visit the most, I'm generally on sites that are community driven, like forums and discussion boards. Oprah has recently released her very own YouTube Channel. Like her or not, you have to commend her on her efforts to reach a broader audience. Video on demand is perhaps a newer concept for her regular listeners so it will be interesting to see how well this new YouTube channel does. While some people believe that this is a blatant marketing ploy (read: Leo Laporte), we still have to recognize the shift that mainstream media is making. I commend them on extending their content to Internet users. The overall effect that this may have may not be to bring more attention to Oprah directly, as she is already pretty well known, but rather exposing her audience to new and alternative media that can be found on YouTube and other video and news sites.
